In March 2008, the Arctic Winter Games will make its return to Yellowknife to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this week-long event. The theme of the 2008 Arctic Winter Games, Northern Stars – Inspired by Dreams, recognizes the great potential of youth. Whether it is a young cross-country skier, short track speed skater, or hockey player aspiring to reach Vancouver 2010, or a dancer of musician striving for a career in the arts, northern youth can achieve at the highest level, if only they dream. The Arctic Winter Games provides a performance platform to encourage their dreams and promote their journey of personal success.
The business community has a strong history of contributing significantly to the success of the Arctic Winter Games. We invite local businesses as well as those who conduct business in the north to join us in supporting Northern Stars – Inspired by Dreams as they grow to lead the circumpolar world in a prosperous future.
Cash contributions will provide the majority of the Host Society’s non-governmental funding needs. All contributions are gratefully accepted. For those who join our campaign early, there is a multi-year opportunity for recognition as a sponsor. Rather than the Games simply being recipients of corporate philanthropy, we want to work with companies to market their names, providing ongoing association of sponsors with healthy living and cultural programs for youth in the north. We will only deem our campaign successful if our sponsors receive superior public recognition for their support.
Contributors will be encouraged to direct their cash contribution toward sponsorship of specific Arctic Winter Games venues, major games components or sports. Our sponsorship package allows flexibility and affordability, offering something to businesses of all sizes.
The Arctic Winter Games unite the circumpolar world. The Arctic Winter Games plays a key role in the growth and development of northern youth. The Arctic Winter Games provides a meaningful and lasting legacy to all who participate—not simply the competitors themselves, but the volunteers, the communities and the sponsors who come together to make it all possible.
